privacy policy
Version 1.0.0 — Effective October 13, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information AUXJACK LLC, a California limited liability company (“AUXJACK”, “we”, “us”), collects through our software products (the “Software”), our online store and customer accounts (the “Store”), and our website at auxjackaudio.com (the “Website”), how we use it, and your choices.
The short version: our Software works on your computer and does not upload your audio or files. It contacts our licensing provider only to activate and validate your license. We don’t collect usage analytics or crash reports, and we don’t sell your information.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
1.1 From the Software
When you activate or validate a license, the Software sends the following to our licensing provider, Moonbase:
Device identifier (see below), sent at activation, revalidation and deactivation, to enforce activation limits and confirm the license belongs to this computer.
Device name (for example, “Studio Mac Pro”), sent at activation, to help you identify and manage your activated computers.
License token (a signed record of your license), sent at revalidation and deactivation, to confirm your license is still valid.
App version, operating system and platform, sent with every licensing request, to confirm compatibility and license validity.
Device identifier. Utilities and Audit send your computer’s hardware identifier (on a Mac, the hardware UUID). Bouncer and Convert send a one-way hash of that identifier instead. Either way, the identifier is used only for licensing.
How often. The Software checks your license from time to time, no more than once every 5 minutes, and keeps working offline for up to 7 days between checks. If you activate offline (by uploading a device file through your Store account), the Software does not check in online at all.
On your computer. The Software stores your license locally, including the name and email address on your license, and keeps its settings, presets and any logs (such as Audit’s rename-undo logs, which list file paths) on your computer. None of this is uploaded to us.
What the Software does not collect: your audio, files, projects or sessions, usage analytics, crash reports, or browsing activity. The Software processes and modifies files only on your own computer.
Update checks are manual. Clicking an update or help link opens our Website in your browser, and that visit is covered by Section 1.3.
Device names often contain your name (for example, “Jack’s MacBook Pro”). If you prefer, you can rename your computer in your operating system settings before activating.
1.2 From Purchases and Your Store Account
Our Store and checkout are run by Moonbase. For each order, Moonbase AS (Norway) or its subsidiary Moonbase LLC (United States) is the seller and merchant of record. It takes payment, handles tax, and issues receipts and refunds.
Purchase records (payment, billing address, tax and order details) are held by Moonbase as an independent controller under its own privacy policy at https://moonbase.sh/privacy-policy. We never receive your card or bank details.
Your Store account, licenses, activations and Store emails are handled by Moonbase on our behalf, and this Policy applies to them. This includes your name, email address, the products you own, your activated devices, and the IP address used when you activate a device (which Moonbase uses to prevent abuse).
Moonbase shares your order details with us: your name, email address, country, product, price, date and license.
1.3 From the Website
The Website is hosted by Squarespace, which collects basic analytics for us, including pages visited, referring site, approximate location (derived from IP address), browser and device type. Squarespace uses cookies to do this. Analytics cookies are set only if you accept them through the cookie banner on the Website, and you can change your choice at any time through its cookie settings. See Squarespace’s privacy policy at https://www.squarespace.com/privacy and its cookie policy at https://www.squarespace.com/cookie-policy.
Our store pages also save Moonbase’s store data in your browser so checkout works quickly: products and prices, your approximate country and region (estimated from your IP address, for tax), and, if you are signed in, which products you own.
We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels or cross-site advertising trackers.
1.4 When You Contact Us
If you email us or submit a support request, we receive your email address, your message and anything you choose to include (such as screenshots or system details).
1.5 Marketing Emails
We do not currently operate a newsletter or send marketing emails. Should we introduce one, it will be opt-in only: we will add you only if you actively sign up, and every email will include an unsubscribe link. We will update this Policy before launch to name the provider we use.
2. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We use personal information to:
activate, validate and manage your licenses, including deactivations and transfers
run your Store account and deliver purchases, license keys and receipts (through Moonbase)
provide customer support
send service messages about your license, such as security notices, important updates and changes to our terms
send marketing emails, only if we introduce them and you opt in
understand Website traffic in aggregate
prevent fraud, license abuse and chargebacks
comply with legal, tax and accounting obligations
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
3. WHO WE SHARE IT WITH
We share personal information only with service providers that help us run AUXJACK, and only as needed for the purposes above:
Moonbase (Moonbase AS, Norway; Moonbase LLC, U.S.) runs our Store, checkout and licensing. It is the merchant of record and an independent controller for purchase records, and our service provider for Store accounts, licenses and activations. Data involved: account, order and billing information; device identifier, device name, license token, app version, operating system and activation IP address.
Squarespace hosts the Website and provides analytics. Data involved: Website usage data.
Our email provider handles support and service email. Data involved: your messages and email address.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. In a sale, the acquiring company would be bound by this Policy for information collected under it.
4. HOW LONG WE KEEP IT
Activation records (device identifier, device name): While the activation is active, and for as long as your license exists in your Store account.
Store account, license and order records: For the life of your license, plus up to 7 years for tax and accounting.
Support emails: Up to 3 years after your last contact.
Website analytics: According to Squarespace’s retention settings.
Moonbase keeps its own purchase records as described in its privacy policy.
5. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
5.1 Everyone
You can ask us to:
access the personal information we hold about you
correct inaccurate information
delete your information
export your information in a portable format
stop marketing emails (or use the unsubscribe link)
Email legal@auxjackaudio.com to make a request. We may need to verify your identity, usually by confirming the email address on your license. We will respond within one month. If a request is complex and the law allows more time, we will tell you within that month and explain why.
Note: deleting your licensing records will deactivate your license, because we can no longer verify it. We may also keep records we are legally required to retain, such as tax records. For purchase and payment records held by Moonbase as seller, you can also contact privacy@moonbase.sh.
5.2 California Residents
Under California law, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose; to request deletion and correction; and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do neither). We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.
In the past 12 months we have collected the categories described in Section 1 (identifiers, including device identifiers; commercial information; and internet or network activity) for the business purposes in Section 2, and disclosed them only to the service providers in Section 3.
Do Not Track: the Website does not respond to browser Do Not Track signals. Because we do not use cross-site advertising trackers, there is no cross-site tracking to stop.
5.3 EU, EEA, UK and Swiss Residents
AUXJACK is the controller of your personal information, except purchase records, for which Moonbase is an independent controller. We rely on these legal bases:
Licensing, Store account and support: Performance of our contract with you.
Fraud and license-abuse prevention: Our legitimate interests.
Website analytics cookies: Your consent, given through the cookie banner (withdraw any time).
Tax and accounting records: Legal obligation.
Marketing emails (if introduced): Your consent (withdraw any time).
You need to provide licensing information to activate and use the Software; without it we cannot validate your license. We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing.
You may also object to processing based on legitimate interests, restrict processing, and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
International transfers: AUXJACK is based in the United States. Moonbase stores data in the EU and uses some providers in the U.S.; our other providers may process data in the U.S. and other countries. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. SECURITY
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including relying on established providers for checkout and licensing, sending licensing requests over encrypted connections, and collecting only the data described here. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
7. CHILDREN
Our Software, Store and Website are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We will update this Policy before any change in what we collect, such as adding crash reporting or a new feature that sends data. We’ll update the version and effective date above, and we’ll notify license holders by email of material changes.
